Our Monday night Catholic Study Group recently considered the topic of the Rosary as it is presented in our text, The Essential Catholic Survival Guide: Answers to Tough Questions About the Faith. Here are some resources that we provide to follow up on the questions raised during the discussion.
First, here is a recording of the Study Group’s discussion:
Here is a simple guide to praying the Holy Rosary offered by the Knights of Columbus:
“Holy Mary, Mother of God…”
Our text, The Essential Catholic Survival Guide: Answers to Tough Questions About the Faith, mentioned the term, “Mother of God”, which is not mentioned in Sacred Scripture:
Some Protestants object to the title “Mother of God,” but suffice it to say that the title does not mean that Mary is older than God; it means the person who was born of her was a divine person, not a human person. (Jesus is one person, the divine, but has two natures, the divine and the human. It is incorrect to say that he is a human person.) The denial that Mary had God in her womb is a heresy known as Nestorianism (which claims that Jesus was two persons, one divine and one human), which has been condemned since the early fifth century and which the Reformers and Protestant Bible scholars have always rejected.
Here’s a fuller explanation of Nestorianism, which we only touched upon briefly in the Study Group meeting:

The Scriptural Rosary
Lastly, we discussed the value of various Rosary apps in assisting us in praying the Holy Rosary and meditating well upon each of the mysteries. Here is one such app, a Scriptural Rosary.
