Here’s a follow up of our meeting last night: the papal documents that defined the two dogmas discussed, an implicit acceptance by St. Jude of the assumption of Moses (thereby lending credence to the dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) and a post on the qualities of a resurrected body, which the Blessed Virgin Mary certainly has.
The dogma of the Immaculate Conception was formally defined by Pope Pius IX in 1854 in his Apostolic Constitution, Ineffabilis Deus.

The dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was formally defined by Pope Pius XII in his Apostolic Constitution, Munificentissimus Deus, in 1950.

Jude 1:9 includes a reference to the apocryphal work, the Assumption of Moses:
But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, disputed about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a reviling judgment upon him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”
Another follow up on Monday’s meeting:
As we just started talking about the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a member asked “What kind of body does she have in heaven?” (or something like that) A resurrected body, we concluded. Here then, is a summary of the ideas of St. Thomas Aquinas on the resurrected body:

When explaining the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our text referred to Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant. Here are two posts that I hope give some insights into this idea.
The Song of the Ark was sung by Moses and the Israelites when they broke or pitched camp in the wilderness. The Church Fathers had a startling insight into it, an insight that has everything to do with the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Here is a post containing a short audio clip of Catholic evangelist Steve Ray discussing the idea of Mary as the “new Ark of the Covenant”. In this clip, Steve provides several astounding parallels between 2 Samuel 6:2-11 and Luke 1:39-44, and shows that the inspired Gospel writer considered the Ark of the Covenant of the Old Testament to be a “type” or prefiguring of our Blessed Mother.
